Rachel Wood is our featured cyclist for the month of October! Rachel is new to Team Thrive as of this past summer. She did awesome is the summer crits and is now killing it in Cyclocross! A bit more about Rachel,
AGE – 29
CURRENT CATEGORY AND DISCIPLINE – Cyclocross – Cat 3 (she also regularly races single speed); Road – Cat 5
GOALS – Cyclocross – achieve cat 2 in 2019 and compete at nationals in 2018 and 2019; continually work on increasing my skills, knowledge, and bike handling in various conditions. Road – improve skills and race tactics/awareness, train better and more specifically, achieve cat 3 in 2019. I’d also like to get better at mountain biking and maybe do some racing also!
FUN FACT… I work as a research scientist at the UW and get to travel for work quite a bit. I’ve been to South Africa a few times, Uganda, and I lived in Peru for a year studying climate change. It was amazing to work closely with Peruvian scientists, travel around the country, and experience Peruvian life and culture.
